Dive into the world of 35mm film! This class is designed to give photographers new to 35mm film cameras the knowledge to use the cameras, the film, and having the film developed and printed by a film lab. Rolls of film will be provided, but be sure to bring your own 35mm film camera in working condition!

Topics covered:

  • Various sizes of film: Comparing 35mm film, medium format film, and sheet film (4x5) *Note that this class will focus on 35mm film and 35mm cameras
  • The different types of film: Print film, slide film, black and white film, infrared film
  • Loading the camera with film: proper handling, ensuring the film is loaded and advancing
  • Rewinding and unloading the film
  • Photography techniques: Setting ISO, focusing, exposure settings

Evening class: Discussion and instruction on film, loading and handling, and the various topics listed

Saturday morning:

  • Process the film – observing our film lab process and print the film
  • Discuss handling and storing the negatives
  • Review and discuss photo assignment

Class Duration: Evening class 2 – 2.5 hours; Saturday morning: 2 – 2.5 hours
Class Fees: $75 per person
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of exposure (aperture, shutter speed, ISO)
Class Limit: 8 - 10
