Stacy Pearsall: Nikon Ambassador

Stacy L. Pearsall got her start as an Air Force photographer at the age of 17. During her time in service, she traveled to over 41 countries, and attended the Military Photojournalism Program at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. During three combat tours, she earned the Bronze Star Medal and Air Force Commendation with Valor for combat actions in Iraq. Though disabled and retired from military service, Pearsall continues to work worldwide as an independent photographer, and is an author, educator, military consultant, public speaker and founder of the Veterans Portrait Project. She is a Nikon Ambassador, Manfrotto Ambassador and Ilford Master. Her work has been exhibited at The Woodruff Arts Center, The Pentagon and Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, the National Veterans Memorial and Museum among numerous other galleries and venues.

Friday Keynote | Shooter: Combat From Behind the Camera

Pearsall’s empowering presentation draws upon the hardships she faced as a photographer, and woman, in combat. She’s documented some of the most dangerous battles of our time, has been injured in combat and survived to tell her story. More importantly, she lives to tell others’ stories. Hers is an amazing visual journey of personal and photographic growth. Not only do the images relate the story of the soldiers she’s documented, but also her own tale of friendships she made and tragically lost. You’ll learn how her path to recovery paved the road to her new mission in life, the Veterans Portrait Project.

Saturday Keynote | Get Your Group On

Michele Celentano, Canon Explorer of Light, will be sharing her insight into photographing people and creating consistent and beautiful portraits. You will gain insight into posing, the three languages of posing, and communication skills. Learn simple techniques for posing people in groups of 2 to 100. Almost all genres of photographing at some time or another require posing groups of people together. This is one of the most feared tasks photographers often face. Whether you photograph weddings, families, corporate events, schools or teams, you will gain great insight into posing groups of all sizes quickly and without stressing. Michele will be demonstrating live on stage posing subjects in a natural relaxed way, putting groups of all sizes together, and making people look thinner and younger without using a computer. Be prepared to be onstage if you attend this program. As many people as possible will participate in a large group pose - you will be amazed at how fast groups can be assembled. If you would like to be a part of the live demonstration, wear a black shirt. In today’s market, great posing and lighting skills are so important... cameras, lenses and computer techniques will only go so far. Your best images start with you and with what you create in the camera. You will walk away from this seminar with new ideas you can put to good use right away! Get ready for a high energy, fast paced, action packed program.

Patrick Murphy-Racey: Sony Artisan

Armed with his B.A. in Photojournalism from Marquette University, his twenty-five year career has only and always been about photography. Murphy-Racey has seen a great variety of assignments since his start in newspapers, through the peak years of being a magazine freelancer, his tenure as a regular contributor to Sports Illustrated, and into the corporate and industrial world of annual reports and advertising. While his assignments are varied and come from many different sources, photojournalism is his first love and constantly informs every assignment. Ever the chameleon, Murphy-Racey’’s career is a long series of re-inventions and rebirths, but the visual storytelling remains the same, even as the tools change. From 4×5 to 4K, he’s technically inclined, and loves making great images. Patrick is more than competent covering just about any assignment, but his specialties include dramatic and creative use of strobe & LED lighting, sports action photography, environmental portraits, and powerful, well-lit HD interview video production. PM-R shoots both stills as well as motion and is always asking, “What'’s next?”

Saturday Keynote | The Mirrorless Advantage for Weddings, Portraits, and Sports

Patrick will be showing how he uses the Sony α9 for Sports, Weddings, Portraits and more.
