The Sigma 100-400mm f5-6.3 DG DN OS is a Contemporary-series ultra-telephoto zoom lens with an equivalent angle of view at 150-600mm in 35mm format. It offers 16 groups and 22 elements with a 9-blade rounded diaphragm for beautiful bokeh and reduced ghosting and lens flare. Built-in image stabilization and impressive autofocus features, including an AF function setting switch for seamlessly transitioning between shots, will allow you to capture clear and sharp images. Exclusive Low-Dispersion Glass.
The degree to which light is refracted by glass depends on the light's wavelength. This fact causes different colors of light to focus at slightly different points. The result is chromatic aberration, the color fringing that is particularly noticeable in telephoto lenses. Most chromatic aberration can be removed by combining a high-refractivity convex lens element with a low-refractivity concave element. Yet residual chromatic aberration known as “secondary spectrum” may still remain. To minimize this secondary spectrum, which can be a serious issue with conventional lenses, SIGMA lenses feature up to three types of exclusive low-dispersion glass offering superior performance: ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion), SLD (Special Low Dispersion) and FLD (“F” Low Dispersion).
Designed To Minimize Flare & Ghosting.
From the start of the design process, SIGMA measured flare and ghosting to establish an optical design that is resistant to strong incidental light sources such as backlight. At the prototyping stage, SIGMA used not only simulations but actual photographic experiments to assess flare and ghosting under multiple criteria, identify the causes of these issues under a wide range of situations, and take measures to mitigate them. In addition, SIGMA’s Super Multi-Layer Coating helps further reduce flare and ghosting and provide sharp, high-contrast images even in backlit conditions.
Push/Pull Zoom Mechanism Incorporated.
For quick control of the angle of view, the zoom ring incorporates a push/pull mechanism in addition to the regular twist mechanism. The exclusive lens hood has also been designed to accommodate push/pull zooming and overall lens maneuverability. By making it possible to adjust the angle of view instantly, this lens gives photographers an even better chance of getting that crucial shot.

FUJIFILM X Mount addition
The SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS | Contemporary, which was created in 2020 as the "Handy Tele Master", the DG DN version of the ultra-telephoto zoom dedicated for full-frame mirrorless cameras, will now be added for the Fujifilm X Mount.
A control algorithm including AF drive and communication speed optimization has been developed specifically for X Mount interchangeable lenses. In addition to realizing high-speed AF, the lens also supports AF-C (Continuous AF) and in-camera aberration correction. The mount is rubber-sealed to cater for use in a variety of environments.

A full range of functionalities that enables smooth and easy ultra-telephoto shooting
In addition to a high-speed and smooth AF enabled by the stepping motor optimized to the latest algorithm, the SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS | Contemporary incorporates powerful image stabilization (OS) of four steps built into the lens. When combined with a camera body with image stabilization built in, the lens corrects for pitch and yaw axis rotations, providing even more powerful image stabilization.
It also features the AFL button to which the user may assign select functions on the camera side, and the focus limiter switch that allows optimizing the AF range according to the purpose of shooting, Zoom lock switch that fixes the zoom ring at the widest end, preventing it from rotating and causing the lens barrel to extendunder its own weight during transportation, OS Switch which the user may switch between Mode 1 for general photography and Mode 2 for motor sports and other applications requiring panning.
Switches optimized for X Mount
The switches have also been optimized for X Mount. The "AF Function Setting Switch" allows the user to select a function while the AF Function Button is pressed on the lens side.

The SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS | Contemporary packs functionalities required for angles of view corresponding to focal lengths of 100-400mm in a compact, lightweight body. It is not merely about weight reduction, but the lens is durable, with careful selections to utilize the right materials in the right place. For instance, magnesium alloy is used for the part where a tripod socket is attached, which needs to be very strong.
To allow for a paring with camera bodies of different sizes, a tripod socket (sold separately) is available. As this helps reduce any strain on the camera body, photographers can shoot long hours without worrying about it. The tripod socket comes with a strap which also helps reduce strain on the mount when carrying the lens around or during transportation.
